UPI Payments Expand in UAE, Targeting Indian Tourists in Dubai

UPI Payments Expand in UAE Targeting Indian Touris

NPCI International Payments Limited teamed up with Magnati in the Middle East so Indian tourists can use UPI in the United Arab Emirates. This means people from India can pay using their phones at more places in the UAE. They’ll scan QR codes just like they do back home. This is mainly for the huge number of Indian tourists who visit the UAE and are used to using UPI.

They’re starting this at Dubai Duty-Free which is a popular spot for Indian travelers. So now you can use UPI to buy things at these duty-free stores. NIPL and Magnati are working together to get UPI working at other stores and places in the UAE later on. This will make UPI way more useful for Indian people when they visit.

The whole point of this is to make paying easy for the growing number of Indian tourists in the UAE. Since UPI is super common in India it’s a payment method they already know. By adding UPI they want to make their trips better and make it simple to pay wherever they are in the UAE.
