Telangana Seeks 2,800 Electric Buses, Explores Retrofitting Existing Fleet

Telangana Seeks 2800 Electric Buses Explores Retro

Telangana’s Chief Minister Revanth Reddy talked with Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy about making all of Hyderabad’s buses electric. They discussed the state asking for buses under a government program where the buses are leased or contracted out. The main idea is to switch to a fully electric bus system in the city.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that instead of buying all new electric buses some old diesel buses could be changed to electric using kits. This would be like adding electric parts to the buses they already have. He asked the central government for 2800 buses showing the size of the change they want to make.

It wasn’t said what the central government will do or how long the bus changes might take. The meeting was mostly about the state’s plans and asking the central government for the buses needed for the switch. This whole idea is a big move towards having electric public transport in Hyderabad.
