Faulty Road Work in India Could Mean Jail Says Min

The government is thinking about making faulty road construction a really serious crime. Right now if someone does a bad job building a road and it causes an accident they might not face much punishment. The government wants to change that.

The idea is that road builders, the companies, and the engineers should be responsible if their poor work leads to accidents. They want these folks to face jail time if they’re negligent. This is coming from worries about India having way too many road accidents.

So if the plan goes through people who make bad roads that cause accidents won’t get bail easily. This means they stay in jail while they wait for their trial. The hope is that this will make sure roads are built better and people are safer. But they haven’t said exactly how this new rule will work yet.
