Apple made it into the top five smartphone sellers in India for the first time ever. This happened in the last three months of 2024. A research group called Counterpoint Research said they got almost 10 percent of the market. This happened because of three things they did: making phones in India, selling them in more places and pushing their more expensive phones.
The research also said that Apple started making phones locally which probably helped get more phones to people and maybe lowered costs. They also worked on getting their phones into more stores all over India. Plus they focused on selling their nicer higher end phones. This all seems to be what helped them sell way more phones in India during that time.
All of this is a big change for Apple in the Indian market. The report didn’t go into every detail about how making phones there and selling more really helped but it looks like it worked. Apple being in the top five shows they’re doing a lot better in India now.
