A court in India just said no to Azam Khan’s appeal about his sentence. He tried to get his two-year prison term and fine of 3000 rupees thrown out but it didn’t work. This all started back in 2008 when he and his son were said to have blocked a road near a police station.
The prosecutor argued that Khan and his son did block the road outside the police station. This road block is what led to the charges and his first conviction. Khan wasn’t at the court when they made the decision because he’s already in jail because of this case.
So the court upheld the original sentence meaning Khan still needs to serve his two years in jail and pay the fine. They reviewed the case and decided the first ruling was correct. His son is still trying to appeal his own part of the case.
