Allahabad High Court Judge Defends Speech Amid Bia

Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav from the Allahabad High Court told Chief Justice Arun Bhansali that his speech at a VHP event was ok according to judicial rules and the constitution. This happened after the Supreme Court Collegium asked him about his speech a month before. They wanted to know more because some thought his speech was against Muslims.

The problem started when people worried about what Justice Yadav said at the VHP meeting. Chief Justice Bhansali had already asked Justice Yadav to explain his words. Now Justice Yadav is saying again that what he said fits with being a judge and what the constitution says. The big question is if what he said shows that he might be biased or unfair.

Now the Supreme Court Collegium will look at the worries and Justice Yadav’s explanation. His letter to Chief Justice Bhansali is part of figuring out if his public words were right. The main thing is to decide if his words made people doubt that he could be a fair judge and if he broke any rules for judges or the constitution.
