The Supreme Court of India said no to bail for Erappungal Abubacker a former leader of the Popular Front of India. He wanted to be released because of his health but the court didn’t agree. The government arrested him back in 2022 and say he did illegal things.
The judges looked at Abubacker’s medical papers but decided his health wasn’t bad enough to let him go. They’re keeping him in jail while his case moves through court. They took his health problems into consideration but the serious charges against him played a big role too.
Abubacker’s arrest was part of a big operation against the PFI. The Indian government has now banned the PFI. He’s still in jail because of the ongoing case and the government’s fight against the PFI.
