Uttar Pradesh Police Suspended After Alleged Assault on BJP Leader

Uttar Pradesh Police Suspended After Alleged Assau

Four police officers in Prayagraj, India got suspended after a BJP leader named Manoj Pasi said they attacked him at the police station. Pasi is a leader in the BJP’s group for Scheduled Castes. He went to the police station to talk about a problem with some building work his brother was doing and that’s when the alleged assault happened.

Pasi says the police beat him up instead of helping with the situation about building a wall. He went there hoping to sort things out peacefully but it went bad really quick. The specific reasons why the officers allegedly got violent aren’t clear from what’s been said but it looks like it started from a disagreement about the construction and what was going on at the police station.

The officers were suspended because Pasi made a formal complaint about the alleged attack. This is getting lots of attention because of Pasi’s role in the BJP and his work with the Scheduled Caste group. Now there’s likely to be an investigation to find out what really happened and why and if the police acted correctly in how they handled the construction problem in the first place.
