On Friday Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President-elect Donald Trump talked on the phone. They both agreed to set up ways to talk regularly about important stuff they both care about. China said that Xi got a call from Trump where Xi congratulated Trump on winning again.
This phone call was just the start of building a relationship before Trump officially takes office. They talked about needing to be able to talk to each other clearly about big world problems and keeping things calm. Basically the call was all about getting those lines of communication open.
Trump also said the call was “very good” on his social media. They didn’t share all the details they talked about but they both know it’s important for their countries to talk more to handle things around the world and between them.
