The Houthi group in Yemen said they launched a ballistic missile Saturday. Their spokesperson Yahya Sarea said the target was the Israeli Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv. The group says this action was to support Palestinians and Hamas. They also said the missile hit its target accurately, according to their al-Masirah TV.
This isn’t the first time the Houthis have been involved. They’ve been attacking ships in the Red Sea saying it was also to support Palestinians. But this missile attack on Tel Aviv is different. It shows they’re now directly targeting Israel. This comes after a lot of tension in the Middle East because of the conflict in Gaza.
Using a missile to hit a place in Israel shows that the Houthis are staying involved in these regional conflicts. Their actions show they’re willing to fight in areas way outside Yemen. Even though they said they hit the Israeli Defense Ministry, no one else has confirmed that.
