Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu said they could start fighting Hamas again in Gaza if the current ceasefire and hostage deal fails. He spoke on TV just hours before the ceasefire was set to begin. Netanyahu said the agreement was good and thanked the US government, both the current one and the next one for their help.
Netanyahu made it clear that Israel sees this deal as just a temporary break. He said they’re ready to fight again if Hamas doesn’t release the hostages as promised. He also claimed the US supports Israel in this position meaning if fighting starts again the US would understand. This shows that Israel isn’t fully committed to the ceasefire and might go back to fighting if things don’t go as planned.
This all means the truce is kinda shaky. It seems like the ceasefire will only last if Hamas follows the agreement. Netanyahu’s words sent a message of hope for the hostages but also a warning that fighting could quickly restart. Basically he’s saying the ceasefire is just a pause and if necessary they will go back to war even with the US backing them.
