Dhoni has previously played with Mihir Diwakar, a former Ranji player who was a part of India’s Under-19 squad in 2000. The married couple Mihir and Soumya run a business together called Arka Sports Management. The agreement between their company and Mahendra Singh Dhoni to launch a cricket academy with a global reach is the source of the legal issue.
When Dhoni filed a lawsuit in the Ranchi court with the help of his buddy and agent Seemant Lohani, the matter got even more heated. The cricket player accused Arka Sports Management directors Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das of breaking their contract and committing a Rs. 15 crore fraud.

Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das have chosen to take legal action in reaction to these accusations, choosing to bring a defamation case against Dhoni at the Delhi High Court.
