The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, led by Congressman Rahul Gandhi, was obstructed on its route to Batadrava Than on Monday morning, causing it to halt for more than two hours in Haibargaon in Nagaon, Assam.
The yatra began heading towards the Batadrava Than on Monday at 8:25 a.m., having left the night halt camp in Rupahi, Nagaon, till it encountered police officers and barricades. A morning visit to Batadrava Than in Nagaon district, the birthplace of famous Vaishnavite reformer-saint Srimanta Sankardeva and one of the most hallowed locations for Assamese Vaishnavites, is part of the Congress’s agenda for January 22, as previously announced.
Rahul’s convoy was unable to continue and pulled up beside the barricades. Supporters gathered around him as he sat on the ground and joined in the song “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram.”
