Jharkhand Police Seize 5 Tons of Illegal Coal, Driver Arrested

Jharkhand Police Seize 5 Tons of Illegal Coal Driv

Giridih police recently intercepted a truck carrying five tons of illegally mined coal. The seizure took place near the Open Cast CCL area within the Teteriya forest. Law enforcement responded to a tip that illegal mining activities were occurring in that specific location. According to officials, the coal was being taken directly from a nearby coal mine. This incident demonstrates the persistent problem of illegal mining in the region.

Acting on the information, a police team led by SI Buddha Dev located a vehicle filled with coal. The driver could not provide any paperwork showing the coal was acquired legally. “We got word about illegal mining, and we immediately acted,” a police spokesperson explained. Consequently, authorities are currently investigating the origin of the coal and the scope of the illegal operation. The vehicle and its cargo have been impounded at the police station while the investigation continues.

This incident emphasizes the difficulty in controlling illegal coal mining within the area. These activities often result in significant environmental damage and also reduce the government’s income. Furthermore, the illegal mining operations create hazardous conditions for workers involved and can fuel organized crime. This recent seizure serves as a clear indication that authorities remain committed to stopping illegal mining.
