National News: Former Bihar CM Karpuri Thakur to be awarded Bharat Ratna, he will get the highest civilian honor posthumously

Ranchi/Desk: It has been announced to give Bharat Ratna to Karpoori Thakur. He will be awarded Bharat Ratna posthumously. He was a great freedom fighter, teacher, politician and former Chief Minister of Bihar of India. It was very popular. That’s why he was also called Jannayak. Modi government has announced to give him the honor of Bharat Ratna. It has been said that he will be given this honor on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

People’s leader for the people
Karpoori Thakur was born on 24 January 1924 in Samastipur district of Bihar. His father was a farmer. Karpoori Thakur was active in the national movement since his student days. He took part in the Quit India Movement of 1942. However, after this he went to jail. He spent 26 months in jail. After this, in 1952, Karpoori Thakur was elected member of Bihar Legislative Assembly for the first time. After which he contested the assembly elections and won. Then after this, he was elected member of the Legislative Assembly for four consecutive times. In 1967, he was elected Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and in 1970, he was elected Chief Minister of Bihar. After this he implemented many welfare schemes for the poor. Due to which his image as a public leader got further strengthened.
