There have been allegations regarding the usage of interviews in the general category admissions process, especially in private institutions such as Loyola School and St. Mary’s School in Bistupur. The Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh has objected to the management’s decision to interview the chosen children, supposedly in order to assess their literacy levels.

The group has taken decisive action in response to these worries by complaining to the District Education Officer about the involved private schools. They have requested that the practice of holding interviews for school admissions be immediately outlawed. The Right to Education Act (RTE)-2009, specifically Section 13(1), is cited by the association. This section forbids schools from charging a per-child charge during the admissions process or placing any financial hardship on the kid, parents, or guardians.

Additionally, the group cites RTE-2009 Section 13(2)(b), which states that the imposition of a monitoring charge may result in fines of between Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000. They contend that the RTE-2009’s regulations and provisions are broken by using interviews as a means of admissions.

The Jamshedpur Parents Association President, Dr. Umesh Kumar, has sent a formal demand letter to the district education superintendent. The letter draws attention to the purported RTE-2009 clause breach and demands an immediate stop to interviews with general category pupils who were chosen by Loyola and St. Mary’s School for the admission class. The letter also requests an injunction to stop doing interviews for entry-level admissions in all other institutions in the city of Jamshedpur. To guarantee impartial, transparent, and equitable admissions procedures for every student, the association works to ensure that the rules set down in RTE-2009 are strictly followed.
