In Giridih, Jharkhand, a local activist has raised concerns about the accuracy of agricultural land measurements in the Tisri area. Rajkumar Sharma, a social activist, is working to ensure the ongoing measurement of the Krishi Farm land is done correctly. This comes after Sharma filed a public interest lawsuit in the Jharkhand High Court, which prompted authorities to begin surveying the land.
Sharma believes there may be errors in how the land is being measured. As a result, he has officially requested information from the Circle Officer (CO) of Tisri. This request, filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, seeks specific details about the land in question.
The information Sharma requested includes the total size of the land, and how the government originally obtained it. He also wants to know how many tenants the land was received from, along with copies of the relevant account and plot numbers. These details are essential for independently verifying the accuracy of the land measurement process.
Sharma’s push for accurate land records follows a period of inaction from local officials. “I have sought details to ensure transparency and prevent any manipulation,” Sharma stated. Getting copies of the Khatian, which is the land register, and the specific plot numbers is also part of his request.
Having correct land records is extremely important for preventing disagreements and protecting the rights of the people who originally owned the land. By obtaining this information, Sharma hopes to ensure a fair and transparent process for everyone involved. Ultimately, accurate measurements and readily available records are crucial for maintaining justice and preventing future disputes over land ownership.
