In Jamshedpur, local leaders recently gathered to discuss the results of inspections conducted at 111 ultrasound centers across the district. The meeting, headed by Deputy Development Commissioner Aniket Sachan, centered on making sure these centers are following the rules outlined in the PC&PNDT Act. This act aims to stop the practice of choosing a baby’s gender before birth, which can lead to sex-selective abortions. Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal had earlier called for all ultrasound centers to be checked.
The inspection reports were closely examined during the meeting. The main goal was to find any problems or violations of the PC&PNDT Act. Officials expressed concerns about ultrasound centers that are operating without the required licenses. Therefore, they talked about ways to investigate and take action against these illegal businesses.
Moreover, those present emphasized the need for closer monitoring and enforcement of the rules. SDM Dhalbhum Shatabdi Majumdar highlighted how important it is to follow the PC&PNDT Act. He stated that following the PC&PNDT Act is very important for keeping moral standards high in ultrasound services and for stopping practices biased against a specific gender.
Following an investigation, action will be taken against ultrasound centers operating without a license. This crackdown is designed to protect people’s health and make sure the law is respected. In addition, it sends a clear message that illegal operations will not be tolerated.
The meeting ended with everyone agreeing to strengthen the enforcement of the PC&PNDT Act. The goal is to ensure all ultrasound centers in Jamshedpur operate legally and ethically. Regular checks and strict punishments for any violations will be put in place. These actions will help to maintain the quality of healthcare services and prevent technology from being misused to select a baby’s gender.
