A heartbreaking accident in Ranchi has resulted in the deaths of two students from the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ). The incident took place in the Mandar police station area, specifically on National Highway 75 (NH-75). It happened near a diversion that was set up for a bridge being built over the Murmu River.
A truck carrying coal hit the CUJ students. The students, one pursuing a PhD and the other a Master of Arts degree, died instantly. Police have arrested the truck driver. Following the accident, local residents expressed their anger and blocked the road late into the night to protest.
Reports indicate that the students were riding a scooter when the truck struck them at the diversion. Because of the ongoing bridge construction, the area has a lot of traffic, making it dangerous for people traveling through. Now, authorities are investigating what led to the accident. Also, they are planning to put in place measures to try and stop similar accidents from happening in the future.
A CUJ spokesperson stated, “This is a very sad loss for our university.” In addition, the university is offering support to the families of the students during this difficult time. This accident has raised concerns about how safe the roads are in the area, especially near construction sites.
Officials are asking drivers to be careful and follow all traffic rules to help prevent future tragedies. Therefore, they stress the need for improved traffic control and safety precautions on NH-75 to protect all road users.
