Karnataka Court Rejects Yediyurappa Plea, POCSO Case to Continue

Karnataka Court Rejects Yediyurappa Plea POCSO Cas

The Karnataka High Court has rejected a request from former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to dismiss a case filed against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. This decision, made on Friday, means that the case will continue to be heard in the trial court. The case began in March 2024 when a woman accused Yediyurappa of sexually assaulting her young daughter at his home in Bengaluru.

The woman who filed the complaint stated that she had initially gone to Yediyurappa for assistance with another issue. She alleges that the assault happened during one of these meetings. Yediyurappa has denied all charges, saying that the accusations are politically driven. His lawyers argued that the evidence was not strong enough to support the allegations and asked the High Court to dismiss the case.

After reviewing the evidence and arguments, Justice Krishna S. Dixit decided not to dismiss the case. The court stated that the investigation should continue without any obstacles. They also emphasized that the trial court should handle the case quickly to ensure a fair trial for everyone involved.

This legal challenge adds to the complicated political history of Yediyurappa, who is a well-known figure in Karnataka politics. Because of his prominence, this case is expected to have a major impact. With the POCSO case moving forward, the allegations against the former Chief Minister will be carefully examined in court.
