In all, 19 Jharkhandi girls—14 of whom were minors—were saved from various parts of Delhi after two traffickers were arrested, according to a statement issued on Sunday.
The 12 to 18-year-old girls who were saved are from the Borio block in the Sahebganj district of Jharkhand.
According to the statement, on January 23, the Nodal officer of the Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Centre in New Delhi, Nachiketa, was informed that traffickers had lured several girls from the Borio block and taken them to Delhi. The statement also stated that Sahebganj SP Kumar Gaurav sent a team to Delhi following the traffickers’ arrest with documents found in their homes.
Based on the information in the documents, a rescue operation was started, and 19 girls from various parts of the nation’s capital were saved. According to the statement, after their home verification is finished by the District Child Protection Officer of their respective districts, the rescued girls will receive counseling and rehabilitation under the supervision of the Sahebganj district’s District Social Welfare Officer.
