He claimed in his confession that Chhote Lal Shah, the plaintiff in the case, was a highly dependable driver. The ranger was driven to the Hazaribagh apartment on January 20. After accompanying him inside the apartment, he noticed a large amount of cash stored in a cupboard. Following this, the plaintiff instructed them to lock the apartment and drive to Ranchi. They did so, locking the apartment and leaving the key inside, and they drove to Ranchi together.
Told that on January 21, the following day, he took the apartment’s keys, arrived in Hazaribagh late at night via bus, removed the money from the apartment’s cupboard, placed it in a bag, and left for Ranchi. He removed the money from the bag once he got to Ranchi and stored it in a sack at home. Burn the bag and conceal it.
