Jamshedpur: Police arrested two people with lakhs of rupees and illegal lottery tickets from Parsudih on Wednesday afternoon. The arrested accused are Raja Lakra and Chamo Samad, residents of Chaibasa.
The police received a tip-off that some people were carrying illegal lottery tickets in a car. Acting on the information, Parsudih police launched a checking drive near the police station and nabbed the accused.
A total of Rs 6.20 lakh in cash and illegal lottery tickets were recovered from the accused. The police also seized the car.
Raja Lakra has been arrested in the past too for his involvement in the illegal lottery business.
During interrogation, the accused told the police that they work for lottery mafia Sikandar Yadav of Chaibasa. They had come to Jamshedpur in a car to sell lottery tickets in different areas of the city. They were returning after selling the lottery tickets when they were arrested by the police.
On Thursday, the police sent the accused to judicial custody.
