According to BJP state president Babulal Marandi, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had summoned Soren on August 7, 2023, to investigate the matter. Following this, attempts were made to cancel the land’s jamabandi (land record) in a hurry.
Marandi made these allegations at a press conference on Tuesday, responding to Soren’s challenge in the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday to quit politics if the ED showed him the land papers.
Marandi claimed that after the ED summons, a person named Rajkumar Pahan applied to cancel the land’s jamabandi on August 16, 2023. On January 29, 2024, the SR Court canceled the jamabandi and ordered its return to the original Khatiyandars (landowners).
In a video clip shown at the press conference, a person named Santosh Munda claimed that the land belongs to Hemant Soren and everyone in the area knows about it.
The BJP has demanded Soren’s resignation from politics and a CBI probe into the matter. The Congress, on the other hand, has dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
