Hemanth soren arrest 1

New Delhi: According to sources in the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the BMW that was taken from Hemant Soren’s Delhi residence belongs to a Congress Rajya Sabha MP who made headlines last year for a large-scale cash recovery from his property.

According to the sources, Dhiraj Prasad Sahu, the Rajya Sabha MP for Jharkhand for the Congress, owns the company that the car is registered under. When Income Tax officers raided Mr. Sahu’s connected premises in December, they found ₹ 351 crore in cash. The BJP attacked the Congress when horrifying images of tax officials counting the pile of cash appeared on TV.

The opposition party claimed it was not involved in the cash recovery and distanced itself from it. Additionally, Mr Sahu emphasised that his company, which dealt in spirits, was the rightful owner of the funds and had no affiliation with the Congress. It had taken ten days to retrieve the cash, and to accomplish the difficult work, forty currency counting machines had to be put to use.

The Congress MP will now be questioned by the ED on Saturday in relation to his car, which was discovered at Mr. Soren’s house.

Mr. Soren, who was taken into custody last week, is being looked into in relation to a rumoured mafia plot in Jharkhand involving the unlawful transfer of land ownership. Not long before his arrest, he resigned as Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He has refuted the accusations made against him and stated that the BJP is misusing investigation agencies to topple governments that are elected legitimately.

When ED agents entered Mr. Soren’s Delhi house on January 29, they discovered the BMW. The licence plate on the blue SUV is from Haryana.
