Post Office staffs suspended for irregularities, Union Minister reply to MP’s question

The postal department has set up a system for investigating public complaints and claims, where action is taken on receipt of complaints. This information was given by Union Minister of State for Communications Devu Singh Chauhan in the Lok Sabha in response to a question from MP Sanjay Seth.

Sanjay Seth had raised the issue of accounts opened by the post office in Jharkhand, the amount deposited in the schemes, and the financial irregularities in the post office in the Lok Sabha.

The Union Minister said that people in Jharkhand have shown interest in opening accounts and depositing money under various schemes. Better operation has also been done in Jharkhand regarding various schemes. The Union Minister also provided district-wise details of the state regarding the schemes being operated through the postal department.

Under which 240781 accounts have been opened under Kisan Vikas Patra, 32629 under Monthly Income Scheme, 2779 under Mahila Samman Saving Certificate, 279828 under National Savings Certificate, 750 under National Savings Scheme and 11846 under Public Provident Fund in Ranchi. Apart from this, 335438 accounts have been opened under Recurring Deposit, 8116 accounts under Senior Citizen Savings Scheme, 155480 accounts under Post Office Savings Account, 69352 accounts under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, 72764 accounts under Term Deposit in Ranchi district.

34,595 crores deposited in Jharkhand

The Union Minister said that people of Jharkhand have deposited Rs 34595 crore in the post office under these various schemes. The amount deposited by the common people in the post offices of Jharkhand in these schemes includes Rs 9241 crore in Kisan Vikas Patra, Rs 5711 crore in Monthly Income Scheme, Rs 105 crore in Mahila Samman Saving Certificate, Rs 4860 crore in National Savings Certificate, Rs 28 crore in National Savings Scheme, Rs 1838 crore in Public Provident Fund, Rs 4458 crore in Recurring Deposit, Rs 3710 crore in Post Office Savings Account, Rs 2540 crore in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Rs 2104 crore in Senior Citizen Savings Scheme and Rs 5040 crore in Term Deposit.

People need to be aware

MP Sanjay Seth said that the public’s trust in the Modi government’s system has increased. This is the reason why people in Jharkhand alone opened accounts in the post office on such a large scale and also deposited money in it. The Government of India has also made provision for action in case of financial fraud or irregularities. But it is also necessary for the common people to be aware.
