Jamshedpur: People’s Forum organized a protest near Madina Masjid, Azad Nagar, demanding justice for Sheikh Tajuddin, a 50-year-old businessman from Kapali, Adityapur, who died in a mob lynching on Dec 8, 2024.
The protest raised concerns about growing mob violence in Jharkhand and pushed for stronger laws to protect vulnerable communities. Civil society members, community leaders, and residents from various districts joined.
Tajuddin’s family says he was attacked in Sapra village. Police initially called it an accident, but witnesses say a mob was involved. The FIR (No. 0441) filed by Adityapur police doesn’t include mob lynching laws.

Protest Demands
- Update the FIR to include mob lynching charges.
- Compensation for the victim’s family.
- A government job for Tajuddin’s son.
- Implement the promised mob lynching bill from the 2019 JMM-Congress manifesto.
- Special protections for minority communities.
- Strict punishment for all involved in the attack.
Speakers urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to act. “This isn’t just about one person. We need action to stop this from happening again,” said a forum representative.
The protest ended with a candlelight vigil for Tajuddin. The group has also appealed to the CM and local officials, calling for swift justice and stronger measures against mob violence.
