The Aam Aadmi Party or AAP, with Delhi’s Chief Minister Atishi leading the way, recently talked about their fundraising efforts. They said it shows how honest they are. At a press meet in Delhi on Sunday, Chief Minister Atishi mentioned that the AAP has always used donations from regular folks to pay for elections. Since the party started, she said they’ve depended on the people of Delhi for money and support.
Chief Minister Atishi explained that the AAP used to have public meetings called ‘nukkad sabhas’ to ask people in Delhi for donations. People would give small amounts like 10 or 50 rupees. The Chief Minister said that people giving money to the AAP proves the party is transparent and does things the right way in politics.
The main idea the AAP wanted to get across at the press event was that this crowdfunding thing proves they’re committed to honest politics. They said it shows they rely on the public’s support. They pointed to their past where they used donations to fund elections to back up their claims about this new campaign.
