Uttarakhand Inmates Allege Forced Labor After Rele

Six women just got out of jail after seven months and they’re saying they were forced to do unpaid work while inside. They were locked up because of the Haldwani violence case back in February. These women are saying they had to clean toilets mop floors and do other jobs that weren’t part of what they were supposed to be doing in jail. They think this is not right and happened after they got released on bail.

These women believe they have rights like everyone else and that forcing them to do this is wrong. They’re saying it goes against something in the Indian Constitution that stops people from being forced to work. They also mentioned the rules of the jail that should have stopped these things from happening. The women said this wasn’t part of any official jail work or a program to help them but just felt like a way to punish them.

This is making people wonder if things are okay at that prison. If these women are right it means the prison might not be following rules or respecting rights. Now it’s time to look into what they are saying to see what really happened and how to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
