Wildfires near Los Angeles have sadly caused more deaths now totaling sixteen people. The coroner’s office says five of those deaths were from the Palisades Fire and eleven were from the Eaton Fire. This is up from eleven deaths earlier and unfortunately officials think that number could still increase as search teams keep looking in the areas hit by the fires. Firefighters are trying really hard to stop the fires from spreading especially with the potential for strong winds that could push the fires closer to important parts of the city.
The main goal right now is to cut off the fires and protect people. Authorities are working non-stop to control the blazes before the strong winds are back because those winds could make things way worse by pushing the flames into new places including places well known in the city. Search teams are going over the area very carefully to make sure they find everyone and get an accurate number of how many people were affected by the fires.
What started these fires is still being investigated. Firefighters are still fighting hard against the fires in the Los Angeles area with the Palisades and Eaton Fires being the worst. These fires are a direct threat to people and homes and things are changing a lot so there will be updates as things develop. The fight against the fires is tough because of the chance of strong winds so crews are moving fast to make areas safe before the fires spread more.
