The Rajasthan High Court gave Asaram temporary bail until March 31st. This happened after the Supreme Court had already given him similar bail also until March 31st in a different rape case just the week before. Asaram is currently serving a life sentence for a rape that happened in 2013 but he asked the High Court to pause his sentence and give him bail. The court listened to his request on Monday before they gave him this temporary release.
Asaram’s lawyer told the media that the court granted his client the temporary bail after hearing his request. This release allows Asaram to get medical care. He was first arrested by Jodhpur police back in 2013 at his place in Indore Madhya Pradesh.
Since he was arrested Asaram has had many legal problems involving rape allegations. The fact that he got bail in two separate cases even if temporary and for medical reasons is a new development in his legal problems. His legal status is still not decided after the March 31st bail ends.
