US Lawmaker Demands Records in Alleged Selective Prosecution of Adani Group

Representative Lance Gooden sent a letter to the Justice Department asking them to keep all records about their actions related to Gautam Adani and his companies. He thinks the Biden administration might have been targeting the Adani Group unfairly. Gooden wants all the papers and notes to see how the department decided to act. This is happening just before the new Trump administration takes over.

Gooden thinks the Justice Department might have had a political reason for going after the Adani Group instead of a fair legal one. He says the prosecution was “selective” meaning they picked on Adani. He wants to make sure the Justice Department is open about what it did in its investigation of the Adani group. This is why he sent the letter asking the Attorney General to keep all records.

This request comes right before the change in government. Gooden’s words suggest he believes the Justice Department might have been biased or trying to achieve a specific political outcome. By asking for all the records to be kept safe he is likely planning for an investigation once the new administration is in charge.
