SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket on Wednesday sending two private moon landers to space from Florida. The launch happened at 1:11 a.m. Eastern time. The landers are from two different companies one is called Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost and the other is ispace’s Resilience. This is a big deal because it’s Firefly Aerospace’s first trip to the moon and is part of a NASA program.
The Falcon 9 rocket took off from launch pad 39A and got the Blue Ghost lander into the right orbit. Firefly Aerospace shared that the launch was successful on X. The Blue Ghost lander is carrying different things to the moon. This shows that private companies are doing more space exploration not just governments.
The other lander ispace’s Resilience is also going to the moon. We don’t know all the details about its goals but it’s another private lunar lander. This launch shows that there are more and more companies doing missions to the moon. These missions often help NASA and other groups showing how space exploration is changing.
