In the village of Umarpura in Punjab India a Sikh family gave some land to the local Muslim community. Sukhjinder Singh Noni a former village leader and his brother Avninder Singh donated 5.5 biswas of land. This land is meant to be used to build a mosque because there wasn’t one in Umarpura. This means the Muslim villagers had to travel to other places to pray. The family wanted to help solve this problem for their neighbors.
The land was given directly to the Muslim people of Umarpura. The Singh family is well-liked and respected in the community and they made this decision to help their neighbors. Because there wasn’t a mosque nearby Muslim people had to travel to pray and this was hard for them. The family’s act of kindness was because they wanted everyone in their village to have a space to practice their religion.
With this land the Muslim population of Umarpura will finally have their own mosque for prayers in their own village. This gift represents peace and unity within the village. The Muslim community now has a place to go for worship in their own neighborhood. It’s a great example of people from different religions working together and helping each other out.
