Communal Riots Soar 84 in India Maharashtra Sees M

The Centre for Study of Society and Secularism or CSSS said there were a lot more communal riots in India in 2024. They looked at news stories from papers like the Indian Express and Times of India. They found 59 riots happened. This is a big jump of 84% from the 32 that happened in 2023. They studied riots all year and saw where they happened most. Maharashtra had the most with 12. Then Uttar Pradesh and Bihar both had seven.

This increase in riots shows that things are getting more tense between different groups in India. It’s worrying that Maharashtra had so many. It means that place was a big problem area in 2024. The CSSS looked at just the number of communal riots and where they were. This helps people understand how widespread these problems are.

Sadly the CSSS report said these riots led to 13 people dying. While they didn’t go into the specifics of each riot or death it shows that there’s a really serious cost to this kind of violence. It’s important to see how many people are hurt or killed because of these issues in India. They put their report together just using what they read in the newspapers.
