ASP Jharkhand, state president furious with the insult of Baidyanath Ram

On 16 Feb 2024, the newly made Champai Soren government in Jharkhand saw the formation of new cabinet ministers. It came with a controversy that Latehar’s MLA Badiyanath Ram whose name was supposed to be present in the cabinet minister list was removed at the last moment.

Kashif Raza, Azad Samaj Party Jharkhand, State President stated that “Insult to Badiyanath Ram was an insult to dalit community in Jharkhand”. According to Kashif, Latehar’s Honorable MLA Vaidyanath Ram, who comes from a Dalit community, his name was included in the cabinet expansion. His name was also included in the list of new ministers sent to Raj Bhavan. But his name was removed at the last moment, he was not administered the oath of office as a minister, what is the reason for this?

He further states that Indian democracy advocates equal participation and rights of all classes in proportion to their numbers. Ignoring the Dalit community in the new government of Jharkhand may prove costly for the strong JMM government. Champai Soren should consider this.

  • BJP MLA Anant Ojha met the Mansukh Mandaviya regarding opening a medical college in Sahebganj district

BJP MLA Anant Ojha met the Mansukh Mandaviya regarding opening a medical college in Sahebganj district

Bharatiya Janata Party’s two-day national convention is in progress in Delhi. Anant Ojha, a member of the Rajmahal legislature, met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya while in Delhi who is also attending the national convention. In this instance, he presented the subject of a medical college to be opened in Sahebganj district.

The North Santal Pargana region’s isolated Sahibganj district is situated 500 kilometres from the state capital and 160 kilometres from the sub-capital Dumka. The district’s residents are struggling as a result of inadequate medical care. Because of the region’s geographic location, even for general issues, one must rely on other states.

Thus, this is the ideal location for a medical college. As a result, the Sahebganj district’s children will also receive education and medical care. The Central Government designated Sahebgaj as an aspirational district.

Under Prime Minister Modi’s direction, four lanes and the Ganga bridge are currently being built in the Sahebganj district. As part of the Namami Gange scheme, ghats were built. The harbour was constructed. The MLA was given the assurance by the Union Health Minister that steps will soon be taken to establish a medical college.

Villagers silently protest and demand for an investigation into land-related issues and land scams

Hundreds of people from the district’s rural areas participated in a silent protest at Randhir Verma Chowk, calling for an investigation into land scams and the resolution of land-related issues. The protest was organised by Bhoomi Bachao Sangharsh Morcha, with Ramesh Kumar Rahi serving as its leader.

Put an end to the looting of government and CNT land in Dhokra. Look into cases of dismissals based on false pleas. Look into compensation scams on Ring Road. Finish the investigation into Golakdih compensation scams soon. Look into the land that Deepak Saw took in Ring Road. In exchange, the compensation received was Rs. 1 crore 82 lakh, and no money was received. Dozens of demonstrators with placards bearing slogans inscribed on them sat in silent protest.

The land scam worth Rs. 1000 crore

The silent protest’s leader, Ramesh Kumar Rahi, claimed that Ring Road in Dhanbad is the name of a land scam worth just Rs 200 crore. In addition, there have been numerous other land scams. A scam estimated to be worth Rs 1000 crore will come out if the entire situation is thoroughly investigated.

    The ten year long protest

According to Ramesh Rahi, there has been a dispute over the amount of compensation and the investigation of land scams since 2013. Since 2016, ACB has been looking into the land scam. Owners of land do not have rights even in 2024. Although the compensation amount was disclosed, it did not reach Ryot. Hundreds of individuals from all over the district have taken part in the silent protest, according to Ramesh Rahi. These are the same people who are dealing with issues related to their land. They weren’t invited by means of payment. Everybody has arrived independently with their demands.

The local villagers participated in the nonverbal protest.

Golakdih, Dhaiya, Plani, Kanglo, Tila Tand, Gopinathdih, Manai Tand Ring Road, Pichdi, and other rural districts are among the villages that have brought people to the area, according to Ramesh Rahi.

    Two-hour silent, symbolic demonstration

This decade-long movement has, according to Ramesh Rahi, regained its intensity. A two-hour silent symbolic protest is taking place today. Next up will be the development of a plan for more violent agitation. The state’s corrupt administration will be awakened by us.

  • “Came to India 25 years ago, called it home” – French journalist Vanessa Dougnac on leaving India due to notice of ‘malicious reporting’

“Came to India 25 years ago, called it home” – French journalist Vanessa Dougnac on leaving India due to notice of ‘malicious reporting’

Vanessa Dougnac, a French journalist working in Delhi, departed the country on Friday, claiming she was being “forced to leave by the Government of India.” Last month, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) sent her a notice accusing her of ‘malicious’ reporting and requesting an explanation as to why her Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status should not be revoked for purported rule violations.

In her 23 years as a journalist, Dougnac has covered a variety of topics, including the Maoist insurgency. She is married to an Indian national and was previously the South Asia Correspondent for La Croix, Le Point, Le Temps, and Le Soir.

Dougnac made the following statement in an evening statement on Friday: “Last month, I received a notice that claimed that my articles and were ‘malicious,’ harming ‘the interests of the sovereignty and integrity of India,’ and that I should explain why my OCI card should not be cancelled.’” My articles may “provoke disorder and disturb peace,” the notice continued.

Curbing Dissent from the OCI Community

She said, “I’m writing these words while crying. I’m leaving India today, the place I studied 25 years ago and have been a journalist for 23 years. The location I call home, is where I raised my son after getting married.” She said, “I am being forced to leave by the Government of India. I am not leaving by choice.” In her statement, she said, “I was denied permission to work as a journalist by the Ministry of Home Affairs sixteen months ago without any explanation or hearing.”

“Since then, I have repeatedly asked the Ministry to explain or review this arbitrary action, and they have never once replied. I have been wrongfully accused of undermining the state’s interests, which prevents me from working today. It is now obvious that I cannot continue to support myself while living in India. I fully trust the legal system and am contesting these allegations in the appropriate forums. However, I am unable to wait for its conclusion,” she remarked, adding that she hoped to return to India in the future. “I feel torn apart by the processes surrounding my OCI status, more so now that I realise they are a part of the Government of India’s larger attempt to silence the OCI community,” Dougnac stated.

She claimed that earlier, the authorities had advised her to change her line of work. She remarked, “But I am a journalist, a career I cherish, and I don’t want to stop because of unverified accusations.”

French Government attempted to get the resolved

When President Emmanuel Macron visited France for the Republic Day celebrations last month, France had actually brought up the Dougnac issue with India. The French side was informed by India that the matter had nothing to do with her journalism and had to do with “adherence to national laws and regulations.”

Vinay Kwatra, the foreign secretary, had stated that the proper government office was handling the matter, adding that it had been brought to their notice from the French side before and during President Macron’s visit.
