In the murder of Manipur Police officer Chingtham Anand Kumar, Hemkholal Mate and another accused, Philip Khaikholal Khongsai, were taken into custody yesterday in Moreh.
Mate was the treasurer of the Tengnoupal district unit of the BJP. The party has now dissolved Mate’s membership.
On October 31, 2023, Chingtham Anand was shot and killed while supervising construction of a helipad in Moreh, a region under Tengnoupal that borders Myanmar.
Mate serves as the Mate Tribe Union’s finance secretary in addition to being the village chief of K Moulsang.
State BJP vice president N Nimbus Singh declared, “He (Mate) has been expelled from the primary membership of our party after calling an emergency executive committee of the party today.”
“We will also conduct a comprehensive background check of all members and if any member of our party is found involved in criminal activities, we will take disciplinary action,” Nimbus stated.
The two accused were brought to the Moreh judicial magistrate’s office, whereupon he was placed under police detention for nine days, according to a post made by the Manipur Police on X, the old Twitter platform.
Numerous demonstrators had crowded the Moreh police station following Khongsai’s arrest yesterday, demanding the accused’s release. They had claimed that innocent guys had been arrested by police commandos.

Police commando killed in Manipur’s Moreh amid Gunfight, Manipur is experiencing new turmoil.
Manipur news: Two days after two suspects in the death of a police officer were taken into custody in Moreh, there has been violence.
Moreh: In the border town of Moreh in Tengnoupal district, security personnel and suspected Kuki insurgents engaged in gunfire on Wednesday morning, sparking new unrest in Manipur. In the gunfight, a police commando has lost his life.
The alleged Kuki militants reportedly fired shots and tossed bombs at a security position close to SBI Moreh. The security personnel opened fire in retaliation.

They were found in possession of one handgun with two live rounds, one Chinese hand grenade, 10 live rounds of AK ammo, and ten detonators, according to the police.

MGM College and Hospital, Jamshedpur Protest: Students of the college staged a demonstration against the ongoing training at MGM Medical College, led by the Para Medical Association.
Jamshedpur: Para Medical Staff Association has protested against the training being conducted in MGM Medical College. More than 8,600 bank accounts connected to cybercriminals have been suspended in Jharkhand.
According to him, the district of Deoghar had the highest number of frozen accounts—2,002—followed by Dhanbad (1,183) and Ranchi (959).
A CID officer stated on Tuesday that 8,674 bank accounts in Jharkhand have been suspended due to suspicions that they were being utilised for phishing activities. The Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) Director General Anurag Gupta told PTI, “We received the details of frozen accounts from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and prepared a district-wise and bank-wise list of such information. “The data will be shared with the superintendents of police of all districts and banks for verification of the accounts.
According to him, complaints on the CFCFRMS (Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System) portal and the 1930’s helpline for reporting cybercrime offered by I4C (Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre) led to the freezing of the accounts by various police forces across the nation. The Ministry of Home Affairs founded the unit to give law enforcement organisations a framework and ecosystem for addressing cybercrime in a coordinated and thorough manner.
It is intended for I4C to serve as the focal point for reducing cybercrime in the nation. “If any person has been cheated and he calls 1930′, it enters the data on an online portal, and if the money has been credited to fraudulent accounts, it freezes those,” stated the official.
He promised to track down the information of these account holders. In roughly two years, 8,674 bank accounts have been frozen.

According to the report, Kataria informed police that he became angry with the cabin crew for their careless actions and the delay, which caused him to lose his composure and attack the pilot.
Following the release of the attack footage, another video emerged on the internet in which Kataria is shown expressing regret with her palms folded, seemingly to the pilot. In the video, he is also heard saying “Sorry sir” to the person filming it as he is being carried away by the police on the tarmac.
“After the event, he and his spouse apologised to the workers and to the police. The matter will be brought before the court; a FIR has already been filed,” the officer allegedly stated.
