Jamshedpur Fuel Panic: Long Queues, Shortage Rumors, and Police Deployment
Jamshedpur experienced major chaos on Thursday morning as people rushed to buy petrol and diesel.
Long queues of bikes, cars, and trucks formed at several fuel stations across the city. Many vehicles waited for hours to get fuel.
However, authorities confirmed there was no real fuel crisis. The situation was caused by a technical delay and fear among people.
Since banks were closed on Saturday and Sunday, many fuel station operators could not pay oil companies on time. This delay affected tanker loading and some pumps ran out of stock.
A shortage scare spread quickly among the public. People also misunderstood Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal to use petroleum resources carefully. News of stock shortages further triggered panic buying.
People started buying more fuel than they needed, making the situation worse. Fuel station operators clarified that there is no actual shortage and tankers are expected to arrive soon.
They urged the public to buy fuel normally and ignore rumors. Police have been deployed at several fuel stations to manage the situation. The district administration is also coordinating with oil companies to restore normal supply.
