Chhattisgarh Principal Removed Over Asaram Booklet Distribution to Students

The principal of a government school in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur district was removed following the distribution of booklets linked to rape convict Asaram among students. The incident occurred on October 26 at Swami Atmanand Government English Medium School of Excellence, where 25 to 30 students received the materials during a visit by members of an organization associated with Asaram. Parents raised concerns after children took the booklets home, prompting an inquiry after videos surfaced on social media. The booklets contained Asaram’s images and references to his followers. The principal claimed ignorance regarding the content, stating he was misled. Based on preliminary findings, he was transferred to the collector’s office. Officials are investigating who authorized the distribution and whether students were instructed to study the material. Asaram is currently serving life sentences in multiple rape cases.
