Indira Lankesh, Mother of Gauri Lankesh, Passes Away at 83

Indira Lankesh, 83, entrepreneur and mother of slain journalist Gauri Lankesh, died in Bengaluru from age-related ailments. Widow of writer P. Lankesh, she supported family ventures, founding Mayur Silks in 1979. Her daughter Gauri, editor of Lankesh Patrike, was assassinated in 2017 for criticizing Hindutva. Indira campaigned for justice, joining public movements and expressing frustration over trial delays. Seventeen accused remain on bail as the case continues nearly nine years later.
