UP: Woman Shot Dead in Hospital by Pretend Patient
On Monday, May 11, a 55-year-old woman was shot dead at a private hospital in Chandauli district’s Kamlapur. The victim, Laxmina Devi, was a resident of Bhabua district in Bihar. She had been admitted to the hospital following surgery for a leg fracture.
According to Superintendent of Police Akash Patel, an unidentified man entered the hospital around 6:30 a.m., pretending to seek medical treatment. After collecting medication, he went to the ward where Devi was staying. He placed a pistol against her temple and shot her, killing her on the spot.
After the shooting, the accused tried to flee while firing another round. However, a mob outside the hospital caught him and severely beat him before handing him over to the police. A revolver was recovered from him, and he has been detained.
During initial questioning, the accused identified himself as Gurpreet, a resident of Amritsar. He claimed he had come to Chandauli to take up a job as a security guard. The motive behind the murder has not yet been determined, and interrogation is ongoing.
The body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Police are continuing their investigation to uncover the reason behind the killing.
