Russia Strikes Ukraine Despite US-Brokered Ceasefire
The past 24 hours saw at least three fatalities in Ukraine due to Russian attacks, despite a US-announced three-day ceasefire from May 9. Casualties were reported in Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson regions. In Kherson, a 58-year-old woman was killed by a Russian drone, with seven others injured. Zaporizhia's governor reported one death and three injuries from artillery and drone attacks. In Kharkiv, eight people, including two children, were injured in drone attacks.
Ukraine's air force intercepted 27 Russian drones overnight, fewer than recent days. Ukraine's General Staff reported 147 clashes along the front line. Russia's Defence Ministry accused Ukraine of over 1,000 ceasefire violations, including drone and artillery attacks on Russian territories, with 57 drones shot down. Russia responded with counter-attacks. In Kherson, two people were injured by Ukrainian shelling.
