Escalation in Cross-Border Attacks: Three Killed in Ukraine and Russia

Three people were killed in border regions between Russia and Ukraine as both nations exchanged attacks. In Russia's Bryansk area, two civilians died and two were wounded after Ukrainian artillery struck Suzemka. A drone hit an apartment building in Tatarstan, injuring three people and striking industrial facilities. The city of Togliatti, home to Russia's largest carmaker Avtovaz, also faced a drone attack. Ukraine describes these strikes as a "logistics lockdown," targeting oil refineries, bridges, and roads over 30 kilometres from the front line to disrupt Russian operations. Ukraine also calls some attacks "long-range sanctions" against Russia's oil industry.

In Ukraine's Sumy region, a 44-year-old rail station operator died while heading to a shelter during a drone strike. A station attendant was wounded. Three more people were injured in Ukraine's southern Mykolaiv region. Russia claimed its forces had taken control of the settlement of Priyut in Ukraine's Donetsk area, though Ukrainian authorities did not comment.

Ukraine's attacks on Russia have increased recently. Fuel stations in Russian-held Crimea ran out of petrol after Ukrainian campaigns disrupted supply lines. Witnesses reported no fuel at many petrol stations in Sevastopol, with long queues at those still open. Some food items were also running short. While Moscow denied fuel shortages, Crimea and two Siberian regions confirmed the problem, with other areas blaming panic buying for any disruptions.
