Maharashtra Dy CM Eknath Shinde Urges Shiv Sena Workers to Monitor SIR Process
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde urged Shiv Sena workers to monitor electoral rolls ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in the state. He emphasized ensuring no fake voters or Bangladeshi nationals are included, while also making sure genuine voters are not excluded. Shinde stressed the importance of strengthening the party organization during a rally.
Shinde highlighted that both his party and the state government have responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to reduce fuel consumption amid the West Asia crisis. He defended the move as being in the national interest, stating that standing with the country during difficult times is essential, despite criticism from some quarters.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who also serves as Urban Development Minister, described Mumbai as India's economic capital and a global city. He assured that the government will take all necessary steps to develop Mumbai properly, noting that while the BMC exists, the state government will actively support this effort.
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy briefed media about the SIR process in that state. House-to-house enumeration will run from June 25 to July 24, with Booth Level Officers required to make at least three visits to each household. The draft electoral roll will be published on July 31, with claims and objections accepted until August 30.
