PM Modi and Amit Shah Attend Himanta Biswa Sarma's Swearing-In Ceremony in Assam
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Assam on May 12. He arrived in Guwahati on May 11 and was received by Chief Minister-designate Himanta Biswa Sarma and other officials.
Sarma, who will be sworn in as Chief Minister for a second term, reviewed preparations for the ceremony at the Veterinary College ground in Khanapara. He announced that the oath-taking will take place at 11 a.m. in the presence of top NDA leaders and party workers. Several senior leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, are expected to attend.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the event, with barricades, traffic diversions, and multi-layered security deployments in place. Thousands of BJP workers are expected to participate. Sarma also mentioned that the first Cabinet meeting will be held soon after the ceremony.
The BJP-led NDA secured a decisive mandate in the recent Assam Assembly elections, enabling Sarma's reappointment as Chief Minister. He has stated that implementing the BJP's electoral commitments and development agenda will be the government's top priority in its new term.
