Shamli Conversion Case: Arrests Made; Ayush Malik Affirms His Muslim Identity

Police in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district have arrested Chandni Qureshi and her father, Islam Qureshi, over alleged forced religious conversion. Medicine trader Devraj Malik accused the accused of converting his son, Ayush Malik, to Islam years ago under marriage pretext. Ayush, who now goes by Mohammad Ali, has publicly defended his Muslim identity in a video statement. He rejected claims his statement was forced and said his family filed the complaint under social pressure. Nine people are booked so far. Police are investigating digital evidence and witness statements. Ayush said his faith in India remains strong.
