On Wednesday January 15th the highest court in Bangladesh which is in Dhaka said that Khaleda Zia a former Prime Minister is not guilty in a corruption case. This cancels an earlier decision by a lower court that had given her a 10 year prison sentence. The judges led by Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed looked over her appeal before making this decision.
The Supreme Court also said that Tarique Rahman and everyone else involved in this case were also not guilty. These people had appealed the lower court decision that said they were guilty. The court decided there was nothing wrong with how they acted.
This decision is a big change in this long legal case that was about money connected to the Zia Orphanage Trust. Now that everyone is found not guilty all the previous convictions are cancelled. This case has caused political problems in Bangladesh for some time.
