Sam Husseini a journalist got kicked out of a State Department briefing on Thursday. This happened during a press conference about the Gaza war with Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Husseini is known for his independent reporting and not agreeing with US policies that support Israel. He was trying to ask tough questions about Blinken’s actions regarding the conflict.
During the conference six security officers came up to Husseini. They picked him up and carried him out of the room. Husseini said he was sitting quietly and not causing trouble. As they took him away he told them to get their hands off him.
This situation with Husseini being removed has made people worried about press freedom. Specifically they’re concerned for journalists who question the US and Israel relationship and things the government says. It all started when Husseini tried to ask Blinken questions and the officials responded by physically removing him.
