Journalist Forcefully Removed From U.S. State Dept. Briefing, Sparking Free Press Concerns

Journalist Forcefully Removed From US State Dept B

Reporters Without Borders is really worried about what happened to journalist Sam Hussein at a State Department briefing. They say its not okay for a journalist to be pulled out of a press conference just for asking a tough question. The group posted on X that physically removing a journalist like that hurts press freedom and makes it harder for them to do their jobs.

RSF also said it’s important that governments don’t let things like this become normal. They believe officials should not make reporters scared to ask important questions. If journalists get removed for challenging officials it could be harder to hold people in power accountable and that’s not good for anyone.

This all happened on Thursday during a regular press briefing. Sam Hussein was just trying to ask Secretary Blinken a question and he got removed. RSF thinks its a big deal because it could stop journalists from doing their jobs freely and letting people know what is going on. They think everyone should be concerned that it happened at the US State Department.
