Claims of Election rigging in Pakistan

As per a report in Dawn newspaper, Imran Khan’s PTI has asserted that election officials ‘falsely changed’ the results of at least eighteen National Assembly seats.

One independent candidate joins Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N

The independent candidate supported by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) led by Imran Khan was able to garner the backing of the Nawaz Sharif-led Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

After having a meeting with Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of Nawaz Sharif, at her home, Wasir Qadir joined the party. Sheikh Rohail Asghar, the PML-N candidate from Lahore’s National Assembly-121 constituency, had been defeated.

Following the meeting, Qadir reportedly said, “I have joined PML-N as it is my home,” according to news agency PTI.

USA has not acknowledged Pakistan election results

In a statement released on Friday, the spokesperson for the US State Department stated that “claims of interference or fraud should be fully investigated.” “We join credible international and local election observers in their assessment that these elections included undue restrictions on freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly,” the statement continued.
